Care, Maintenance and Planting Instructions

Our cast stone planters are equipped with pre-installed drainage holes to allow excess water to escape. The drainage holes must be kept clear to help maintain the longevity of your planter, especially in climates that experience winter freeze-thaw cycles.

Whenever possible, we recommend raising the planter off the ground by placing two pressure-treated wood strips underneath it. This helps prevent the planter from freezing to the surface below.
Cover the drainage holes with a mesh screen or similar material to prevent soil and debris from clogging the openings. Fill the planter with a well-draining soil mix that will not retain excess water. Cover the soil with decorative mulch or pine bark up to the top rim of the planter to discourage water from pooling on the surface.

To help keep the finish looking like new, spray the planter with a matte clear coat rated for outdoor use before planting. If left untreated, the finish will naturally and gently soften over time.
