Care & Maintenance / Outdoor Planting Instructions:

Our cast stone planters include pre-installed drainage holes to help water flow through properly. Keep drainage holes clear and cover them with mesh before planting to help prevent soil and debris from clogging the openings.

Use a well-draining soil mix and, whenever possible, raise the planter slightly off the ground with two pressure-treated wood strips. This helps protect the planter during winter freeze-thaw cycles and prevents it from freezing to the surface below.

For added protection, cover the soil with decorative mulch or pine bark up to the top rim to help discourage water from pooling. To help maintain the finish, spray the planter with a matte clear coat rated for outdoor use before planting. If left untreated, the finish will naturally soften over time, adding character to the piece.
