Fountain Care & Maintenance

Specific assembly instructions are included with each fountain. Before beginning installation, confirm that the manufacturer's instructions and all fountain components are included.

Fountain Setup

Set up the fountain on a flat, level surface to ensure stability and proper water flow. A properly prepared base of gravel, flagstone, concrete, or another hardscaping material is recommended.

Before assembling the fountain, test the pump by placing it in a bucket of water and turning it on. The pump should only be connected to a properly grounded 110-volt AC receptacle protected by a ground-fault circuit interrupter (GFCI).
Routine Care

Maintain the proper water level and keep the pump completely submerged while operating. Running the fountain with insufficient water can damage the pump. How frequently water must be added will depend on the fountain's water flow and current weather conditions.

Keep the pump intake free of leaves and other debris to ensure proper water flow. Periodically cleaning the pump will help extend its life.

Clean the fountain as needed using mild soap and a soft-bristle brush. Do not use bleach, as it may damage or discolor the patina.

An algaecide labeled for use in fountains may be used to help control algae. Always follow the product's directions.

To help maintain the finish, apply a clear acrylic spray rated for outdoor use once a year.

Winter Care

Remove the pump and store it indoors before freezing temperatures arrive. Fountain pumps include a one-year manufacturer's warranty but must be properly removed and stored during winter.

Completely drain and dry the fountain before the first freeze. If the fountain includes a copper fountain ring, disconnect it and store it indoors. If a lighting kit is installed, remove the LED lights and transformer and store them indoors for winter.

Protect the fountain with an appropriately sized fountain cover. Do not use a tarp or other plastic covering. Check the cover weekly and after storms or heavy snowfall, as it may shift and expose the bowls to damaging moisture.

Statuary, fountains, and birdbaths do not include a manufacturer's warranty.
