Helleborus Lenten Rose plants are hardy perennial flowering plants known for their early-season blooms that often appear in late winter or early spring, bringing color when few other flowers are in bloom. Though commonly called “Lenten rose,” they aren’t true roses but members of the buttercup family with rose-like, cup-shaped flowers in a range of shades including white, pink, purple, and red. Evergreen or semi-evergreen foliage and shade tolerance make them excellent additions to woodland gardens, shaded borders, and mixed perennial beds.
